Heine Brothers' Coffee
started in 1992 as an espresso cart in an east Louisville
grocery. We roasted our beans three pounds at a time
in a coffee roaster the size of a large mailbox. Our
idea was to sell the world's finest coffees fresh out
of the roaster to others as passionate about outstanding
coffee as we were.
We also believed that our
neighborhoods needed gathering places where people could
meet friends or make new ones. Places where the atmosphere
and the music and the coffee came together with people
to create magic. The world needs magic.
The best part of our stores
is the people. Our eclectic, creative and friendly staff
is the real secret to our success. (And its really
no secret!) After all, they are the folks that make
your visits magical. And by encouraging their creativity
and intelligence, they have become the beat, the pulse
of each stores life. Our baristas are also an important part of the Heine
Brothers' experience.
Our loyal, interesting
regulars include politicians, poets, skateboarders,
priests, attorneys and artists. You might also see the
high school girl who stops in every day after school,
or her Mom, or her Grandfather. They're all here, helping
create the magic.
Our first store opened
at 1295 Bardstown Road
in the Highlands in October 1994.
We bought a new hot-air roaster that looked like a mutant
furnace from hell. This roaster is still turning our
green coffee into aromatic, brown gold. We slowly built
a strong business that starts at 7 a.m. as people on
their way to work begin to line up outside our doors.
Our Crescent
Hill store opened at 2714 Frankfort Ave in
August 1995. We've become a neighborhood tradition,
as dependable as the trains that roll along the tracks
across from our wooden-floored, tin-ceilinged store.
In November 1997 we opened
our St. Matthews
store at 119 Chenoweth Lane.
It has become an oasis in the heart of St. Matthews.
Our Douglass
Loop store at 2200 Bardstown Road
opened May 2000. The Loop is an old trolley turn-around
from many years ago and we have many wonderful and eclectic
neighbors. Horton's Hardware, Graeter's Home
Made Ice Cream and Kinkos are a few of the other reasons
to stop by.
We serve delicious Kizito
Cookies and Muffins in all our stores.
We still search for the
world's best tasting coffees, buy and roast them, and
bring them to your neighborhood. Our coffee philosophy
is simple - drink fabulous coffee fresh out of the roaster.
We hope you agree. Thanks for coming, enjoy your cup
and come back soon!
