Cooperative Coffees imports green (unroasted) coffees from around the world in partnership with farmer co-ops in growing countries. Our commitment to fairly traded, high-quality coffee is an inspiration in the industry.
Breaking New Grounds is a community initiative to turn food waste products into a wealth of food for Louisville's poorest neighborhoods. Combining food waste with Heine Brothers' coffee grounds and used tea leaves, this non-profit creates rich compost which is used in community gardens acrosss the city!
The aim of 15Thousand Farmers is to help create, empower, and inspire 15,000 new, organic, neighborhood backyard farmers in Louisville, KY. How? By using simple instructions and ongoing support provided through local organic farmers and a website that provides everything needed to start Easy Farms in our backyards, on our decks, or in community gardens.

Steilberg String Instruments is one of the coolest music stores in town! Established in 1975, they are an 8000 sq. ft. building of oak and steel, fueled by a love of all of music’s charms and driven by highly experienced, knowledgeable human beings committed to the unending education of musicians, as well as being purveyors of the finest quality string instruments and accessories.
Kentuckians For The Commonwealth is a community of people taking action for justice. They work with people to organize in their home communities and across the state and help everyday community members become extraordinary community leaders. Their work to end mountain top removal has inspired us at Heine Brothers' to get involved. Because we believe in the work they are doing, we donate a portion of the proceeds from our Mountain Dream Blend to KFTC.
Hound Dog Press specializes in custom invitations and announcements, greeting cards, stationery, and posters designed, set, and pressed by hand. Robert and Nick designed and printed the compostable paper bags for our Mountain Dream Blend, the sales of which benefit KFTC (see above).
The Center for Women and Families has been helping victims of intimate partner abuse and sexual violence since 1912. Originally part of the YWCA, today we are a private nonprofit organization serving 11 Kentuckiana counties. The Center for Women and Families has a national reputation for providing high-quality services and innovative programming to help victims become survivors.
Lousiville's source for hard-to-find classics, obscurities, and titles too weird for the mainstream. Opened by Todd Brashear in 1997 with 300 VHS tapes and a hare-brained scheme, Wild and Woolly Video has grown into a Louisville institution.
Elizabeth Namusoke Kizito's father taught her the business at his bakery when she was a little girl in Uganda. All the pastries she sells are prepared by hand at her little bakery in Louisville, Kentucky. Her tasty treats- many of which can be purchased at Heine Brothers'- have become Louisville traditions, especially her cookies!
Carmichael’s has been in business in Louisville for more than 30 years. It was started in April of 1978 by Carol Besse and Michael Boggs (the store name is a combination of their first names), and has been owned and operated by them ever since. It is a family business in the best tradition. Voted 2009 bookseller of the year by Publisher's Weekly.
Divinity Fine Catering is a full-service catering facility and they provide the majority of our pastries at Heine Brothers' Coffee- including cinnamon rolls, scones, pound cakes, and the most delicious brownies you've ever put in your mouth!!!
Located in Louisville’s vibrant Clifton neighborhood, Nancy’s Bagel Grounds fits snuggly with the eclectic boutiques, art galleries and upscale restaurants for which Frankfort Avenue is known for. If you don't have time to stop by and try their bagels for breakfast, pick one up at one of our shops!
Our favorite organic and fair trade lip balm!!! By supporting Zambeezi, you are not only enjoying a great product. You are also bringing jobs and income to rural African villages, and creating sustainable alternatives to destructive logging and mining in the pristine Miombo forests of Zambia.
A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, Habitat for Humanity builds simple and affordable homes in partnership with those in need of decent housing. Habitat sells houses to qualified families at no profit with zero interest mortgage loans. We believe deeply in Habitat's empowering work. Heine Brothers' employees have helped build 8 homes during their 4 trips to Guatemala with Habitat for Humanity.
